UNDP Mongolia Accelerator Lab

We focus on digital transformation as our main challenge. We aim to include those who are left behind in digital development and opportunities.

UNDP’s Accelerator Lab aspires to contribute to closing the digital divide of vulnerable groups and support inclusive and sustainable development of urban communities in Mongolia.

As part of our mission, our team combined a qualitative study with a rapid online assessment, with inputs from industry experts to assess the state of digital literacy among those at risk of being left behind. Our findings indicate that seniors and persons with disabilities experience the greatest gap in digital access and skills. By partnering with relevant stakeholders, we are conducting two experiments to further our ideas.

Additionally, in partnership with the small town of Erdenet with a population of a little over 100,000, we are improving its waste and transportation services. We are testing three preliminary ideas that emerged from a quantitative survey, a rapid ethnographic study, discussions with experts, and local and international experiences. Our goal is to improve current services by optimizing existing capacity, enhancing local community participation, and conducting interventions to positively influence the behavior of local users.
