The project's technical and policy advocacy efforts led to the approval of an amendment to the Village Court Act of 2006 in the National Parliament. This amendment will improve access to local justice, especially for women, ethnic minorities, and other marginalized groups. Women will now have the right to directly seek redress for maintenance issues through Village Courts. The amendment also increases the pecuniary jurisdiction from USD 630 (BDT 75,000) to USD 2,521 (BDT 300,000), broadening access to justice and allowing the transfer of more cases from district courts to Village Courts.
