The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a study on sustainable agricultural insurance to help farmers tackle climate change, market uncertainties, natural hazards, and disasters on 20 January.

In collaboration with K.M. Dastur & Company Limited, the study, titled “Landscape Study on Sustainable Agriculture Insurance Opportunities for Bangladesh”, explores innovative ways to make agricultural insurance affordable and accessible for smallholder farmers.

This initiative builds on UNDP’s Financial Resilience in Agriculture (FRA) program, focusing on policy development, strengthening agri-tech systems, and creating insurance models that benefit both farmers and service providers.

During the inception workshop in Dhaka, government officials, industry experts, and agricultural stakeholders discussed the study's goals and methods. This collaboration ensures the findings will directly address farmers' needs and challenges.

Through this effort, UNDP reaffirms its commitment to protecting vulnerable farmers and fostering a sustainable, resilient agricultural sector in Bangladesh
