In today’s world, development is no longer straightforward; challenges are deeply interconnected, layered, and constantly evolving. Communities often face multiple risks at once, from climate change and disasters to socio-economic pressures, making it harder to design responses that truly address people’s real needs. Yet, there are still a few practical approaches that bring these dimensions together in a meaningful, people-centered way. To respond to this gap, the UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub, with support from the United Nations Human Security Trust Fund (UNHSTF), has developed the Methodology for Mainstreaming Human Security in Poly-Risk Contexts—a unique effort to apply Human Security principles across all stages of development. It aims to help partners think and act more holistically, putting people, their vulnerabilities, and their resilience at the center.
