Amid conflict, economic instability, and shrinking opportunities, many young people in Myanmar are looking beyond the country’s borders. This first report in UNDP’s Myanmar Youth Series examines migration intentions, reasons, and possible consequences. Drawing on the voices of more than 7,000 youth nationwide, the findings reveal that 4 in 10 would migrate if given the chance, and that those with higher education are most likely to consider leaving. The report offers rare, data-driven insights to better understand the realities facing Myanmar’s next generation and to guide programmes in responding effectively.
