This case study documents the experiences of the Government of Sri Lanka in expanding access to energy over 1997-2011 through ESD and RERED projects. In particular, the study reviews the projects’ successful strategy of sector-wide capacity building, creating awareness of renewable energy technologies and making renewable energy lending attractive to the financial sector.
