The forthcoming AHDR will commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the 2002 report while looking decisively toward the future. It provides an opportunity to assess what has changed, identify the structural challenges that remain unresolved and consider what a renewed human development agenda should offer the region today. The report is intended not simply as a retrospective assessment, but as a platform for regional debate and a coherent framework connecting political institutions, conflict, trust, public action and the expansion of human capabilities. 

UNDP and AGFUND are collaborating to organize a roundtable is to reach agreement on the proposed structure, vision and overall direction of the forthcoming AHDR before convening a broader technical workshop in Amman. The meeting will also serve as Project Board meeting for the AHDR project. Reflecting the strategic importance of the report, the Project Board will serve as a high-level governance body, bringing together senior UNDP and AGFUND leadership to provide strategic oversight and guidance. 

The meeting will bring together UNDP, AGFUND, the Lead Author and key contributors at a stage when several analytical papers have already been developed but the architecture of the final report is still being refined. It will therefore focus on whether the proposed structure provides a clear and compelling narrative, how the existing papers should contribute to that narrative, and which issues should be developed further through the remaining work. 

• Revisit the historical importance and continuing relevance of the first AHDR. 
• Review and agree on the proposed structure and vision of the new report. 
• Discuss the key messages and contribution of each of the three papers already prepared, and clarify how they fit within the report’s overall architecture. 
• Review the roadmap for the Amman workshop and the subsequent drafting, integration and completion of the report. 
• Identify opportunities for future collaboration, partnerships and innovative tools that can strengthen dissemination, outreach and impact.
