AHDR first webinar: Public health in the Arab region

The Arab Human Development report team has organized a webinar to discuss on Public Health in the Arab Region. The panelists of the webinar were Fadi El-Jardali, Associate Professor of Health Policy and systems in the American University in Beirut, Ali Mokdad, Director of Middle Eastern Initiatives and Professor of Global Health at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington and Nicola Hones Director and Principal Research Fellow, Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion, Overseas Development Institue. The moderator of the webinar was Rima Afifi, Director of Graduate Studies, Director Prevention Research Center for Rural Health at the University of Iowa.

The first webinar looked at Public Health in the Arab Region. Participants discussed morbidity and mortality related to COVID-19; unique vulnerabilities at community and state levels, linked to the particular conditions of the region; and the risks, successes and recommendations for effective COVID-19 responses with the goal of decreasing inequities.
