West Bengal

May 2, 2012

The West Bengal Human Development Report of 2008 has been created with the purpose of forming a better understanding of the developmental road map for the state, keeping in mind that this would benefit the policy makers and researchers in the state during policy creation, implementation and financial allocation with regard to areas that may require more concern. Along with acknowledging sectors of education, gender, employments and human security, the Report also analyses land reforms and decentralization and their effects on human development. A key emphasis has been given to environmental issues and regions with specific problems in chapter nine and ten respectively and the role political control had with relation to those marginalized regions. Finally the Report lays out the path ahead towards realizing the goal of equitable growth and development in the state of West Bengal.
