The National State of the Environment Report 2024 (NSOER) provides a comprehensive overview of Uganda’s environmental governance and progress towards sustainable development. It highlights key challenges including rapid population growth, urbanization, climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion, while also recognizing government efforts to restore ecosystems, strengthen policies, and promote renewable energy, climate smart agriculture, and sustainable tourism. The report underscores the vital role of institutions such as MWE, NEMA, UWA, and NFA, working with local and international partners to protect Uganda’s globally significant biodiversity and ecosystems. Looking ahead, the report reiterates Uganda's commitment to building environmental resilience by 2040 through stronger regulations, green technologies, and inclusive community participation.
