Recent escalation in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo has resulted in large-scale displacement, infrastructure damage, and severe disruption of basic services, including water, electricity, health, education, and solid waste management. As families begin to assess conditions for potential return, urgent needs include debris removal, restoration of essential services, and temporary livelihood support to stabilize affected communities. Building on its area-based approach, UNDP is positioned to support early recovery through emergency rehabilitation of basic services, cash-for-work activities, and support to local institutions, helping bridge humanitarian response and longer-term recovery once conditions allow.
