The report explores the effective support provided by the Somali diaspora in relief and development activities in Somalia. It examines the motivations, factors, and mechanisms for mobilizing and transferring the support to the country, and how it is used by local Somali actors. 

The research, commissioned by the UNDP, is based on original studies conducted in different regions of Somalia and various cities with a high concentration of Somali diaspora members. The report highlights the role of the diaspora in the Somali economy and livelihoods through remittances, humanitarian aid, and participation in recovery and reconstruction efforts
