UNV Regional Manager Visits Riyadh: Celebrating Volunteer Impact in Saudi Arabia
October 31, 2025
The UN Country Office in Saudi Arabia had the pleasure of welcoming the UNV Regional Manager, Mrs Olga Zubritskaya-Devyatkina, and Regional Portfolio Specialist for the Arab States, Inas-Taha Abbas-Hamad, to Riyadh. The visit brought together UN Volunteers currently serving across the Kingdom for an inspiring and heartfelt exchange. Hosted at the UN House, the meeting was more than a formality—it was a moment of recognition, gratitude, and connection. Volunteers shared stories from the field, discussed their experiences, and reflected on their contributions to the UN’s mission in Saudi Arabia.
The UNV programme plays a vital role in the UN system, deploying talented individuals around the world to accelerate peace and development. In Saudi Arabia, the impact of UNVs is tangible and growing. From supporting policy and programme teams to leading communications and innovation efforts, volunteers are embedded in nearly every facet of our work.
Their role became even more visible during the lead-up to UNCCD COP16, where more than 800 Saudi volunteers were recruited and trained. They worked behind the scenes in event coordination, logistics, outreach, and visibility—ensuring the Kingdom’s leadership in environmental action was delivered with excellence.
At UNDP Saudi Arabia, we are proud to count on the energy and expertise of our volunteers. They are part of our everyday success, and their commitment reflects the best of what it means to serve. We thank each of them—and were especially honored this week to share that appreciation in person.
