New York, 24 September 2025 – In a world where more people than ever are living in conflict and fragile settings, the call for stronger collaboration has never been louder. Responding to this urgency, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) co-hosted a high-level roundtable on the Humanitarian, Development and Peace (HDP) Nexus at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The event, titled “The Humanitarian, Development and Peace Nexus: Milestones in Strengthening Multilateral Partnerships for Sustainable Impact and the SDGs,” brought together leaders, practitioners, and policymakers to explore how collective action can better address humanitarian crises while laying the foundations for long-term stability and development.

In his intervention, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor General of KSrelief, stressed: “Inclusive multilateral HDP coordination is needed today more than ever, with historic numbers of people living in conflict and fragile conditions. We are committed to this HDP partnership.”

Mr. Haoliang Xu, UNDP Acting Administrator, who chaired the session, echoed this call for action: “At UNGA, we explored deepening our partnership to strengthen multilateral cooperation through people-centred action in crisis settings in Sudan, Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine, Syria, and Yemen.”

The roundtable also marked an important milestone: the launch of a new joint initiative in Cameroon, designed to strengthen community resilience, social cohesion, and recovery in fragile contexts. This builds on the growing partnership between KSrelief and UNDP, which already extends to contexts such as Sudan, Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine, Syria, and Yemen.

By hosting this dialogue at UNGA80, KSrelief and UNDP reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing the HDP nexus. Together, they are demonstrating that multilateral partnerships can turn crisis into opportunity, aligning urgent humanitarian response with long-term goals for peace and sustainable development.
