We are excited to announce our participation in the Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) taking place from 15 to 17 November 2023, at the Singapore EXPO. During this event, Achim Steiner, the UNDP Administrator, will be delivering a speech virtually, and we will be co-launching a White Paper on Universal Trusted Credentials (UTC) in collaboration with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
About the SFF:
Since its inception in 2016, the SFF brings together a global community to engage, connect, and collaborate on issues relating to the development of financial services, public policy and technology. This year, the SFF will focus on the growth and adoption of technologies such as AI and Web3, and digital public goods. The festival will examine how these technologies can help to accelerate:
- the transition to a low-carbon future
- the re-imagining of the financial system architecture to better address the needs of the underserved
- the securing of the digital economy against modern climate, technology and cyber risks
The Significance of UTC:
Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in the global economy, accounting for up to 90% of businesses, 50% of economic output and 70% of employment. However, they often struggle to access adequate financing. To address this challenge, we have joined forces with stakeholders across countries to advocate for the adoption of UTC. UTC promises to facilitate broader and more affordable financial inclusion for underserved MSMEs by establishing a global framework for recognised trusted credentials that provide insights into a company’s intent and ability to pay. This, in turn, enables financial institutions to offer faster, more extensive, and improved financial services domestically and internationally.
White Paper Unveiling:
We invite you to join us at SFF 2023 as we launch our White Paper on UTC in partnership with MAS. Our White Paper covers the current data structure of UTC, its practical applications, a suggested guiding governance framework, and strategies regarding data policies and procedures surrounding UTC.
