Piero Ghezzi

International Consultant on productive development issues. Founding partner of HacePeru.pe, devoted to the dissemination and discussion of public policies. Former Minister of Production of Peru (Feb 2014-Jul 2016). In this position, he designed and implemented a novel methodology (Executive Tables) to implement productive development policies through public-private collaboration. Prior to this position, between 2007 and 2013, he was World Head of Economic Studies and Head of Emerging Markets Research at London-based Barclays Capital. He has been head of Research for Latin America, Executive Director; Head of Strategy for Latin America, Director; Head of External Debt Strategy for Emerging Markets at Deutsche Bank in New York, where he worked from 1999 to 2007. Previously, he was Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, United States.

He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, a Certificate of Advanced Studies (ASC) in International Economic Policy from the Kiel Institute of World Economics in Germany, and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of the Pacific, Peru. He has regularly published in academic and financial market journals. He has also written the books "Achievements and challenges of productive diversification in Peru" and "What can be done with Peru: Ideas to sustain economic growth in the long term" (the latter in co-authorship with José Gallardo Ku).
