Democracy, Development, and Shared Futures: Ibero-America on the Road to the Madrid Summit

The event will provide a space for high-level dialogue on the main challenges facing democracies in Latin America and the Caribbean, their relationship with human development, the capacity of States to respond to emerging pressures, and the role of the Ibero-American space as a platform for cooperation, political consensus, and collective projection within an international context marked by fragmentation and uncertainty.

The session will present the findings of the UNDP 2026 Regional Report on Democracy and Development, Democracies Under Pressure, serving as a substantive framework for the political reflection process ahead of the XXX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, to be held in Madrid in November 2026.
