This report provides a global overview of emerging deep tech ecosystems and their potential to drive inclusive, sustainable development. Developed by the UNDP Global Centre for Technology, Innovation and Sustainable Development, this report presents insights from six global regions, highlighting national strategies, institutional frameworks, and ecosystem-building efforts that support deep tech development. It draws on a combination of desk research, case studies, and over 40 interviews with policymakers, researchers, investors, entrepreneurs, and innovation leaders across the world.

The report also identifies five key enablers—policy and regulation, research and talent, funding, entrepreneurship and venture building, and collaboration models—that underpin thriving deep tech ecosystems. Designed to inform and inspire, the report supports policymakers, ecosystem builders, and development actors in understanding how to unlock the potential of deep tech in alignment with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
