Riyadh, May 7, 2025 — UNDP took part in Tadamon Talks #17: Unlocking Opportunities for Innovative Finance in Saudi Arabia, a webinar that brought together civil society leaders, foundations, and regional experts to explore the potential of alternative finance to strengthen the nonprofit ecosystem in the Kingdom.
Organized in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), the session addressed the current challenges and emerging opportunities for civil society organizations (CSOs) in Saudi Arabia. It focused on how tools such as crowdfunding, impact investment, and AI-based solutions can foster collaboration, scale sustainability, and drive innovation in the sector.
UNDP’s Robert Pasicko, Team Lead at the Alternative Finance Lab, presented key milestones from Tadamon Phase 1, which has already empowered hundreds of CSOs across the Arab region. He also introduced the vision for Tadamon Phase 2, which aims to expand access to funding, deepen regional partnerships, and embed technology in civil society financing.
Also speaking at the event, Vito Intini, UNDP Regional Lead Economist for the Arab States, emphasized the strategic opportunities that innovative finance offers across the region. He highlighted the importance of regional collaboration and the use of emerging technologies to empower CSOs and advance sustainable development at both national and regional levels.
The event featured contributions from leading Saudi institutions, including the King Khalid Foundation, Misk Foundation, and others, who showcased national efforts to enable social innovation and support youth- and community-driven impact.
With strong participation and meaningful discussion, Tadamon Talks #17 reaffirmed the shared commitment of Saudi stakeholders and UNDP to create an enabling ecosystem where CSOs can thrive through inclusive, tech-enabled, and financially innovative solutions.
