UNDP Malawi’s Resident Representative, Mr. Shigeki Komatsubara

UNDP in Malawi welcomed the new Resident Representative for the country, Mr. Shigeki Komatsubara, who had his first official working day on the 3rd of June 2019.

Speaking during his first interaction with all staff within the Malawi Country Programme, Mr. Shigeki said that his new assignment to Malawi has been a privileged opportunity and that he is looking forward to working with the entire team and partners in helping contribute to Malawi’s development.

He outlined his vision for the UNDP Malawi team to work collectively towards creating great value in all relevant stakeholders to help ensure that Malawi’s contributions are significantly recognised on a global level.

If we create value in others and do great, then everything we are working to achieve, will fall into place and we will produce even more greater results. We therefore need to further develop our strengths and excel as professionals; work collectively as a team; deliver a 100 percent in our efforts and invest in the people we work with on the ground”, said Shigeki.

He highlighted that the recent delinking process of UNDP and the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office creates an opportunity for more collaboration with other agencies to ensure that Malawi is propelled to the next level and becomes even greater in its development aspirations.

Mr. Shigeki Komatsubara brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience; having previously served in several capacities within the UNDP for more than 16 years, before joining the UNDP Malawi.

He has worked as the Deputy Resident Representative Programme in Ghana and the Country Programme Advisor in the UNDP Regional Bureau for Africa; where he also regularly served as RBA officer-in-charge.
