Accelerator Lab

Malawi’s Accelerator Lab is one of 60 labs in a global learning network of labs to find and grow solutions to development challenges serving 78 countries. Through the Accelerator Lab, UNDP Malawi seeks to expand the way the organization invests about and delivers development.

The AccLab in Malawi was officially launched in May 2021 under the theme Finding and growing locally sourced solutions to emerging challenges and opportunities. The team is working to harness new approaches and research, to generate new solutions to test and scale.

The lab is identifying, refining and upscaling local low-cost cooking and lighting technologies including improvements of community mini-grids, solar cookers, self-powered water pumps and biogas digesters to provide opportunities for renewable energy sources.
