The SDG 16 is an enabling goal for the entire 2030 Agenda, closely interconnected with the rest of the SDGs and essential for advancing toward peaceful, just and inclusive societies. In Latin America and the Caribbean, challenges related to violence, organized crime, corruption, access to justice, discrimination, and trust in institutions continue to directly affect sustainable development, social cohesion and democratic legitimacy. The SDG 16 Snapshot for Latin America and the Caribbean, produced jointly by UNDP, UNODC and OHCHR, provides a common regional analytical reference for public policy and statistics.

The SDG 17 emphasizes the need to strengthen partnerships to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the region. In a context of complex and interconnected challenges, regional partnerships serve as a catalyst to translate commitments into results, mobilize capacities, and connect innovation, financing and technical cooperation.

How can public institutions anticipate upcoming challenges, make better decisions with new generations, and regain citizen trust?
Panelists from UNDP, ECLAC, CLAD, SOIF, OIJ, Chile's CTCI Council and Asuntos del Sur will share concrete experiences and tools already being applied in the region. Additionally, a regional call will be launched during the event to identify and showcase innovative experiences in inclusive digital governance, foresight and citizen participation. If a organization or country is promoting such initiatives, this space is especially relevant.
