Bettina Woll

Deputy Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean

Bettina Woll is Deputy Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. She brings 25 years of experience in international development and cooperation, with a strong focus on sustainable human development, governance, and crisis response. Since joining UNDP in 2006, she has served in both headquarters and country-level positions across Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and the Arab States region.

She served as UNDP Resident Representative in Panama (2025-2026), where she led the country office in advancing strategic partnerships with government institutions, development partners, civil society, and the private sector to support sustainable development outcomes.

Woll has also held several senior leadership positions within UNDP, including Resident Representative in Peru, Chief of Joint Directorate for the Global Policy Network, Crisis Response Coordinator, and Deputy Country Director in Ethiopia. She has extensive field experience supporting crisis response and recovery efforts in countries including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, South Sudan, and Yemen, as well as vast policy expertise and a strong track record of delivering results across development and crisis settings.

Before joining UNDP, Woll worked with public institutions and policy research organizations in Germany, the United Kingdom, Bolivia, Ghana, and Tanzania. She holds a Doctorate in Development Studies from the London School of Economics and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the Free University of Berlin. Bettina is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and German.
