Sudan continues to face one of the world's largest displacement and humanitarian crises. Through its partnership with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), UNDP supports vulnerable communities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, and host populations by improving access to water, strengthening livelihoods, enhancing food security, and promoting sustainable solutions for recovery and resilience.

Access to safe and reliable water remains one of the most urgent challenges facing displaced populations and host communities in Sudan. This project rehabilitates and solarizes water infrastructure to improve water access, reduce waterborne diseases, and strengthen community resilience.

Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Sudan's economy and a critical source of livelihoods. This project supports smallholder farmers through solar-powered irrigation systems, rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructure, and strengthened water governance to improve productivity and resilience.

Rehabilitation of 28 irrigation canals and water distribution networks.
Training for 500 farmers on water management and solar system operation.
