This initiative supports Lebanon's efforts to improve solid waste management through the construction of environmentally sound waste infrastructure and the rehabilitation of uncontrolled dumpsites that pose risks to public health and the environment.

The project contributes to reducing pollution, protecting groundwater resources, improving environmental conditions, and strengthening resilience in communities affected by economic and environmental pressures.

Key Components
Construction of a Sanitary Landfill
The project supports the construction of a sanitary landfill serving communities in the Tyre district, providing a sustainable alternative to uncontrolled dumping and helping improve environmental management across the region. The facility is designed to safely manage non-recyclable waste while reducing environmental and public health risks.

Closure and Rehabilitation of Dumpsite
The project supports the closure and rehabilitation of the Ghazzeh dumpsite in West Bekaa, helping reduce environmental contamination and health risks for nearby communities and displaced populations.
