Inspired by the 2024 Seoul Debates, the policy brief presents strategic recommendations for leveraging innovative climate solutions developed in the Republic of Korea to support developing nations in addressing climate challenges. It focuses on five main areas: leveraging innovation for sustainable and low-carbon energy; integrating climate impact and risks into financial policy; unleashing digital public infrastructure to improve sustainable forestry and carbon sinks; achieving circular economy and fighting plastic pollution through innovation; and reflections from the past and future on climate action.
By integrating cutting-edge technologies and adaptive strategies, the recommendations aim to empower low-and middle-income countries to achieve sustainable growth while mitigating the impacts of climate change. Recognizing the interconnected nature of these critical areas, the proposed solutions emphasize scalability, accessibility, and collaboration. The policy brief advocates for targeted partnerships, capacity-building initiatives, and financial support to ensure equitable implementation and long-term effectiveness. Ultimately, this approach seeks enhance climate resilience and contributes to a sustainable global future. The report also outlines targeted recommendations for the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre, including fostering international partnerships, knowledge-sharing, and pilot projects in developing countries.
