Addressing youth unemployment and fostering sustainable economic development requires dedication and commitment.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is spearheading the Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Project (GGJAP) initiative to empower entrepreneurs and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to boost green growth, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Project is strategically designed to create green jobs for youth and propel SMEs on the path of sustainability by fostering the development of innovative ideas and scaling existing solutions. At its core, the project seeks to facilitate the transition to a green and sustainable economy, addressing key elements such as innovation, growth, and job creation within the private sector.

In Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia, the project will implement two 5-month business accelerators annually, each accommodating up to 25 carefully selected SMEs. These companies will develop business plans for green growth, integrating strategies to create job opportunities for youth. They will benefit from networking opportunities, and potential collaborations to accelerate their green growth plans. The GGJAP extends its impact beyond the accelerator by offering cutting-edge digital learning opportunities to both participating companies and youth entrepreneurs.

The main objectives of the Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Project are:

  • Drive innovation and growth in SMEs, encompassing the crucial aspects of the enabling and regulatory environment, finance, skills building, and entrepreneurial support.
  • Tailor UNDP’s strategies to local ecosystems in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, and Tunisia, leveraging both non-UN and UN-led initiatives to ensure a comprehensive and impactful programme.
