Across Ghana, UNDP and its partners continued to support solutions that create opportunities, strengthen resilience and advance inclusive, sustainable development.

Environment & Climate
UNDP's Hotspot Intervention Areas initiative has unlocked nearly US$22 million for landscape restoration across cocoa-growing regions, while US$457,000 in GEF grants was awarded to 18 community groups protecting the Black Volta Basin. Ghana also advanced its 2025 Updated NDCs and rolled out new training in climate-friendly cooling technologies.

Economic & Fiscal Confidence
UNDP supported the Ministry of Finance and Bank of Ghana on credit ratings and sustainable financing, launched a national MSME Digital Gateway, and backed a new platform for women in the shea sector. Ghanaian AgriTech startup AkoFresh also won US$100,000 at the OPEC Fund's Youth Entrepreneurship Award in Vienna.

Governance, Justice & Human Rights
UNDP and the Ghana National Association of the Deaf advanced advocacy for the Revised Persons with Disabilities Bill, 2026, while a new UNDP–Japan project launched to strengthen AI and cybersecurity governance across Africa.

Crisis, Peace & Resilience
Ghana and Japan launched three initiatives strengthening human security through digital transformation, health systems and peacebuilding, including a Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus initiative in Bawku.

Recognition
The FOREST Okyeman project — led by UNDP with UN partners — received the inaugural 2026 Human Security Award for restoring landscapes in Ghana's Eastern Region.
