The Final Project Report of the UNDP–KAIPTC–Government of Japan partnership highlights significant progress made under the Accra Initiative (AI) between April 2024 and September 2025.
The project aimed at strengthening regional security cooperation to counter terrorism, violent extremism, and transnational crime across West Africa and the Sahel.
Key achievements included:
• Training 113 participants (81 men, 32 women) from 8 countries in counterterrorism, inter-agency collaboration, and community resilience.
• Organizing consultative visits, capacity-building workshops, and a regional seminar to enhance dialogue among governments, civil society, and security actors.
• Producing research publications on national security frameworks and building resilient communities against violent extremism.
• Strengthening Africa–Japan cooperation in peace and security.
By combining training, policy dialogue, and research, the project has enhanced the efficiency and coordination of the Accra Initiative, contributing to a safer and more resilient region.
