The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana has handed over 90 laptops to the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) to support the nationwide rollout of the MSME Digital Gateway.

The laptops will equip trained Digital Champions to provide hands-on support to entrepreneurs, helping them navigate the platform and access business information, market opportunities and other services.

Speaking at the handover, UNDP Ghana Resident Representative, Niloy Banerjee, commended GEA for its critical role in supporting Ghanaian entrepreneurs and driving economic development.

“Ghana’s economic transformation will be driven by the growth and success of its MSMEs. We deeply appreciate the work GEA is doing and are excited to contribute to this important agenda,” he said.

Margaret Ansei, Chief Executive Officer of GEA, expressed appreciation to UNDP and partners for their continued support, highlighting the wider benefits of strengthening the country's MSME ecosystem.

“We are proud of what we have achieved together. Our commitment is to ensure that the MSME Digital Gateway succeeds, not just today, but in the long term, creating opportunities for businesses, households and the country,” she noted.

The engagement also provided an opportunity to review progress on the Gateway and reaffirm both institutions' commitment to its long-term sustainability. The handover was formalised through the signing of the equipment handover document.

The MSME Digital Gateway is being advanced under the Leveraging Digital Ecosystems for Increased MSME Productivity Joint Programme, bringing together UNDP, GEA, UNCDF, UNCTAD and GI-KACE, with support from the Joint SDG Fund.

The initiative aims to strengthen Ghana's MSME ecosystem by connecting entrepreneurs to business support services, financing information and market opportunities through a single digital platform.
