CALL FOR PROPOSAL: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT FOR THE SATOYAMA INITIATIVE – COMDEKS PHASE 4

The UNDP COMDEKS-SGP announces the 2025 "call for proposals" to award small grants of up to US$30,000 under the COMDEKS 4 Programme to non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and community groups. The purpose of the grant is to further expand and ensure the sustainability of sound biodiversity management, governance, and sustainable livelihood activities with local communities in the Afadzato South socio-ecological production landscape in the Volta Region.
The strategic focus of the COMDEKS 4 grant is to:
Develop a participatory model of conservation activities in diverse ecosystems.
Promote activities that could lead to the formulation of relevant national and local policies and strategies (including the implementation of the OECM based on CBD guidelines);
Implement field activities that could lead to the conservation and management of natural ecosystems and wildlife conservation. and
Implement field activities that contribute to establishing a circular economy (realization of a decarbonized society, promotion of renewable energy, climate change adaptation, promotion of recycling, etc.). [Please refer to the attached Project Document (Annex 3) for further details].
Eligibility
To qualify for the grant award, the applicant must:
- be non-governmental or non-profit organizations with a legal mandate to operate in Ghana;
be community groups/community-based organizations, and social enterprise organizations recognized by the relevant district/municipal authorities;
have relevant experience and proven records in working with communities and groups in environmental, forestry and/or agricultural related activities and should be based or already have a working presence in the Volta region, especially within the Afadzato South Socio-Ecological Production Landscape (SEPL);
be the lead organization that should propose a plan of engaging governments, research institutes, communities, media, and other key stakeholders in SEPL.

In submitting the project proposals, applicants should conduct a systems analysis to understand the COMDEKS phase 4 country program strategy, problems in the geographic area and the programme's expected outcome. Time Framework:
The call for proposals is open from the date of this advertisement until 12.00 midnight on December 15, 2025. Interested applicants should submit full proposals using the format attached to this call (Annex 2). Applications would be processed at the end of the call, and only successful applicants would be notified accordingly. The full details on the eligibility criteria, preferred bio-geographic areas, the project strategy, guidelines for applications, and project application document are attached to this call (Annex 1).
