The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kenya works with Government, civil society, the private sector, and development partners to advance sustainable development and build resilience for the nation and its citizens. Guided by Kenya’s development priorities, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), the UNDP in Kenya delivers integrated solutions across governance, inclusive growth, environmental sustainability, and resilience.

Together with the Government of Kenya, development partners, civil society, and the private sector, we are mobilizing resources and aligning efforts to deliver impact where it matters most. Each partnership represents a shared commitment to Kenya’s sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Legal framework
UNDP operates in Kenya under a formal legal and institutional framework that guides its partnership with the Government of Kenya and development stakeholders. The cooperation between UNDP and the Government of Kenya is anchored in the Standard Basic Assistance Agreement (SBAA), signed in February 1972, which provides the legal basis for UNDP’s presence and operations in the country.

Jobs
UNDP Kenya hires personnel through international or local recruitment. It applies several types of contracts depending on criteria, such as legal basis and duration of services. The paramount consideration in the recruitment and selection of UNDP staff members is anchored on “the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence and integrity”, as set forth in Article 101, paragraph 3, of the UN Charter and UN Staff Regulation 4.2.
Procurement
UNDP Kenya's Procurement is based on competitive bidding. Depending on the type, complexity, size and value of the project and its procurement elements. Our procurement covers the end-to-end process of acquiring goods, works, and services, from needs identification, sourcing, contracting, administration, and asset lifecycle management.
