Aligning Rwanda’s Coffee Sector with the EUDR and CSDDD: A Strategic Roadmap and Gaps and Opportunities Assessment
Aligning Rwanda’s Coffee Sector with the EUDR and CSDDD: A Strategic Roadmap and Gaps and Opportunities Assessment
February 16, 2026
Developed through a participatory process led by NAEB and supported by UNDP through the FIT for FAIR project, with support from GIZ and the Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains Initiative (SASI), this Roadmap sets out priority actions to align Rwanda's coffee sector with EU due diligence requirements—particularly the EUDR and CSDDD. Covering six key areas (legality, traceability, smallholder integration, decent work and living wages, waste management, and the circular economy), it provides a concrete framework for strengthening coordination across the value chain, protecting market access for 400,000 smallholder farmers, and building a more resilient and sustainable coffee sector.
