February 16, 2026
This roadmap examines Rwanda’s legal, policy, institutional, and operational readiness to support corporate compliance with the EUDR and CSDDD, with a specific focus on the coffee sector. The report also provides a set of priority recommendations aimed at enhancing competitiveness and strengthening the enabling environment of Rwanda’s coffee sector in light of these new regulations.
The recommendations were developed by the EU Due Diligence Multi-Stakeholder Working Group (EUDD WG) for the sector. The EUDD WG comprises 28 members representing stakeholders across the coffee value chain. Key focus areas include traceability and geolocation, legality, smallholder inclusion, living income and living wages, waste management, and the circular economy.
This report was developed with the support of the FIT for FAIR Initiative and under the guidance of the Rwanda National Agricultural and Export Development Board (NAEB). The FIT for FAIR project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the National Agriculture Export Development Board (NAEB) with the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
