Our focus

UNDP’s systemic approach to energy in Asia and the Pacific integrates clean, renewable energy access with critical social priorities, such as public services, rural livelihoods and poverty eradication. Reflecting the region’s diversity, tailored solutions address unique national challenges and opportunities.

From bridging last-mile energy access gaps to pioneering innovations like hydrogen infrastructure and AI integration, UNDP builds on regional energy trends and country-specific priorities. Our efforts help to shape a just, fair and inclusive energy transition; enhance energy efficiency in heating, cooling and extractive industries; promote clean cooking solutions; and take forward sustainable urbanization and circular economies. Mobilizing financial investment remains central to accelerating transitions.

To achieve these goals, UNDP prioritizes strategic enablers, including innovation across energy value chains, leveraging digital solutions, fostering knowledge transfer and skills development, and building strategic partnerships. These galvanize sustainable energy transformations that simultaneously increase resilience, inclusivity and prosperity.
