UNDP Grounding
Operating with an active, on-the-ground presence across more than 170 countries, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) serves as a vital anchor for global digital transformation by fostering inclusive, safe, and resilient digital societies. As a core coordinating partner of the 50-in-5 campaign, UNDP plays a leading role in a country-led initiative to help 50 nations design, launch, and scale interoperable Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) components—such as digital ID, data exchange, and payment systems—by 2028.
Simultaneously, UNDP drives forward-looking governance through the development of the Artificial Intelligence Landscape Assessment (AILA) tool, a 360-degree diagnostic framework that evaluates a nation's AI ecosystem, regulatory ethics, and public sector readiness to translate diagnostic evidence into actionable national roadmaps. Through this comprehensive, multi-tiered approach, UNDP uniquely bridges local grassroots delivery with global digital strategies, ensuring that emerging technologies and robust digital foundations directly advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and leave no one behind.
