UNDP Accelerator Labs at the LDC5 Conference:

LDC5 Youth Event: Putting Youth at the forefront: Paving the way for an enabling environment for youth to thrive and prosper.

Session: Digital empowerment of vulnerable youth in LDCs - especially vulnerable youth in fragile/conflict contexts

Acknowledging young people’s needs, aspirations and contributions to development in LDCs is fundamental. As outlined in the 2030 Agenda, young people are to be seen and supported as critical agents of change.

This session will bring to the table a diverse group of young people, including young women, refugees, IDPs, and other marginalized groups to present a first-hand reflection of the challenges, priorities and actions needed for designing program that empowers them and enable them not only to prepare and survive in situations of emergencies but to thrive and prosper and realize their full potential and ultimately contribute to the development of their societies.

  • Ms. Maram Humaid, member of Taqat Employability Initiative, Qatar Charity
  • Ms. Sadya Toure, young activist from Mali, founder of Mali Musso, member of the Generation17 initiative
  • Ms. Ana Djú, Head of Exploration UNDP Accelerator Lab Guinea Bissau, Youth Empowerment and Community Development Activist. She will discuss their work on virtual solutions clinics and the unusual consortium of partnership BMW Foundation and UN agencies. Learn more here.
