October 31, 2022

The quantitative and qualitative study “Media through gender lenses in Montenegro” involved an analysis of media content. The data collected regarding gender parity revealed the portrayal of women in Montenegrin media, the percentage of men and women featured in the news, and the topics they discussed in various fields. Simultaneously, it assessed the representation of themes related to women’s rights, violence against women, gender inequality, and other gender equality topics.

The research’s objective is to determine the extent to which Montenegrin media apply a gender perspective when reporting on various subjects, how they facilitate the presence of both women and men in media content for their fair and balanced representation, and to identify the challenges that media outlets encounter. These challenges need to be addressed to enable gender-sensitive reporting. The research provides insights into future directions and strategies for the media to actively promote gender equality and contribute to achieving equality in society.
