The EU-funded Leh Go Green project Nature Club brings together students across Liberia's Northwest.
The EU-funded Leh Go Green project has brought together students across Liberia’s Northwest Landscape through its vibrant Nature Club, sparking a united commitment to sustainability and conservation.
Launched under the Leh Go Green Forest and Biodiversity Programme, the Nature Club is now thriving in multiple schools across the region, bringing together students from varied communities to champion green values and lead change through eco-conscious living.
Activities promote environmental education and youth empowerment, and include tree planting initiatives, climate change education, waste management campaigns, biodiversity awareness programs, and interschool competitions, all designed to cultivate environmental stewardship from an early age.
“This is more than just a club, it’s a movement,” said Korkolie Dongbo, Leh Go Green Field Officer.
“By equipping young people with the knowledge and tools to protect their environment, we are planting seeds of responsibility, leadership, and unity that will flourish for years to come,” Dongbo noted.
The club focuses on hands-on learning and encourages student-led actions, providing a platform for children to grasp their vital role in fighting climate change and protecting Liberia’s natural heritage.
Teachers and community leaders have praised the initiative for revitalizing school environments and promoting collaboration, innovation, and civic engagement.
With funding from the European Union in Liberia and ongoing support from UNDP and partners, the Leh Go Green project continues to use education as a powerful catalyst for environmental change, ensuring that the next generation not only inherits Liberia’s rich landscape but also has the skills and passion to nurture it.
