As part of “Kuwait Annual National Energy Outlook (KNEO)” project and in collaboration with Kuwait Institute of Scientific Research (KISR), UNDP, and General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD), The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) represented by Dr. Charlie Heaps, held a training workshop on the Long-range Energy Alternative Planning System (LEAP) for the professionals from KISR, MEW, and EPA.
LEAP is a tool for energy and climate mitigation planning that is used in nearly 190 countries and is considered the de facto standard for countries undertaking integrated resource planning and GHG mitigation assessments, especially in the developing world.
The project aims to create an Annual Energy Outlook report for Kuwait through building a reliable Energy model that could be used to set the future energy policies in different sectors as well as guiding the country’s strategy towards increasing its share from renewables and environmental friendly energy sources.
