Inter-Party Dialogue on the Prevention of Electoral Violence in Liberia

Participants are drawn from Civil Society, Political Parties, traditional leaders, the media, Women and Youth Groups, among others.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Elections Basket Fund-European Union, Irish Aid, the Governments of Canada and Sweden, are supporting the National Elections Commission (NEC) to conduct an Inter-Party Dialogue on the Prevention of electoral violence in Liberia.

The dialogue, which is being held from 4 -5 September in Ganta, Nimba County, is aimed at maintaining peace and sustaining the existing democracy in Liberia.

Participants include key electoral stakeholders-Civil Society Organisations, Political Parties, traditional leaders, the media, Women and Youth Groups, among others.

This workshop is part of the efforts by International development partners and the National Elections Commission to promote peace and free expression among electoral stakeholders as the country prepares for the 2020 elections.

This follows the recent wave of electoral violence and political tensions in the just concluded by- election in District 15, Montserrado County.
