The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Lesotho is pleased to announce Her Royal Highness Princess Senate Seeiso as its National Goodwill Ambassador for Equality and Sustainable Development. In this role, Her Royal Highness will support advocacy around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and help bring development priorities closer to the people of Lesotho.
The appointment pairs UNDP's development mandate with Her Royal Highness's public platform and commitment to issues central to the lives of Basotho. Together, we aim to strengthen public awareness of development priorities and encourage broader participation in building an inclusive and sustainable future.
In her capacity as National Goodwill Ambassador, Her Royal Highness will help raise awareness of key development priorities, amplify important development messages, and foster greater public engagement. Her work will place particular emphasis on women, decent work, social inclusion, and the goals that underpin Lesotho's development agenda.
Reflecting on the appointment, Her Royal Highness said: "I am deeply honoured to take on this role as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNDP Lesotho. I see this as an opportunity to use my voice and platform to support initiatives that improve the lives of Basotho, particularly our young people and vulnerable communities. I look forward to working with UNDP and its partners to inspire action, amplify important development messages and contribute to building a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable Lesotho."
UNDP Lesotho Resident Representative Dr. Jacqueline Olweya added: "At UNDP, we are honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness to this role. Her leadership, influence and commitment to the people of Lesotho will be invaluable in helping us bring development closer to communities and inspire collective action."
As part of the UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Programme, ambassadors lend their voices, networks, and visibility to communicate development priorities in accessible terms and to connect development initiatives with the communities they serve. Her Royal Highness will support UNDP Lesotho's communications and events, highlighting progress and encouraging public participation.
Achieving the SDGs requires collaboration among government, communities, the private sector, civil society, development partners, and individuals committed to positive change. UNDP Lesotho welcomes Her Royal Highness to this partnership and looks forward to working together in service of the country's development priorities.
