This month saw the start of a series of interactive workshops focused around the launch of the Kuwait Energy Outlook (KEO) that will take place in February.

Published by the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), the Kuwait Energy Outlook provides a thorough evidence-based review of Kuwait's energy production, usage and demand and puts forward recommendations to create a more sustainable, energy efficient and diversified economy and society.

The annual report is the first of its kind among GCC countries and will be an essential resource for decision-makers in Kuwait to achieve the goals as set out in the country’s National Development Plan 2035. KEO is published in partnership with the United Nations Developmental Programme (UNDP), and is sponsored by the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD). 

The KEO workshops that precede the launch of the report aim to teach Kuwaiti energy specialists about topics such as energy economics and data analysis, and will strengthen their skills to efficiently manage and forecast Kuwait’s energy supply and demand, in the context of the domestic production of renewable and non-renewable energy.  

Delivered by international energy experts, this week’s workshop specifically focused on the fundamentals of energy statistics, and how this data can inform energy efficiency analyses.
