About us
About us
Over six decades, UNDP has built a deep and trusted presence in more than 170 countries and territories around the world. With a unique 360-degree view of society, UNDP enables a holistic approach to reducing gender inequalities and advancing women’s empowerment.
UNDP’s global Gender Equality team is led by a Global Director and supported by a headquarters team, regional Gender Equality advisors and teams, over 70 dedicated gender specialists across country offices, and an active global Community of Practice with nearly 2,000 members. Embedded in thematic teams and large-scale programmes, UNDP gender experts bring policy and programmatic guidance, innovative ideas, and locally grounded solutions.
Partnerships for Gender Equality
Partnership is at the heart of our work for gender equality. With governments as our first and foremost partners, we collaborate with civil society, academia, think tanks, public and private sector institutions, and across the UN system – especially with UN Women as our primary partner for women’s empowerment in more than 70 countries.
