Focus Area

As UNDP's custodian for key SDG 16 indicators, the Global Policy Centre for Governance helps countries measure, analyze and apply governance data. The Centre supports the full governance data value chain — from strengthening national statistical systems and coordinating global data collection to developing international statistical standards, advancing innovative citizen data approaches, and producing analytical products that translate data into actionable policy insights.  

Through its global partnerships, technical assistance and convening role, the Centre helps ensure that governance data informs decision-making at national, regional and global levels. By strengthening how governance is measured, understood and used, GPCG supports more effective, inclusive and accountable institutions and reinforces the role of SDG 16 as an enabler of sustainable development.
