UNDP’s New Resident Representative presents credentials to the Minister of International Relations

This afternoon the newly appointed Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Botswana, Ms. Lovita Ramguttee, presented her credentials to the Honorable Minister of International Relations, Dr. Phenyo Butale. During the meeting, Minister Butale congratulated Ms Ramguttee on her appointment to the Botswana country office which he noted as timely given that a new government is in place and the country is in the process of formulating a transformation programme to create jobs and to industrialize the economy. He extended an invitation to UNDP to contribute to the process of the development of the transformation programme.
Minister Butale also expressed confidence in UNDP Resident Representative Ms. Lovita Ramguttee’s experience and leadership in further strengthening the partnership between Government and UNDP.
In her remarks, the UNDP Resident Representative Ms. Lovita Ramguttee congratulated the Minister for the historic victory that saw the new government takeover governance in Botswana. She noted that while Botswana is about to pivot, her joining the CO coincides with process of planning for the next UN  cooperation framework hence opportunities to align strategically. She said UNDP stands ready to support Botswana and to ensure the country feels it is getting the best from it. “Your transformation programme for us remain a key pillar for us to engage in your journey”, She added. Ms Ramguttee joins Botswana country office from São Tomé and Príncipe. She also brings a wealth of experience from across Africa, Asia, and Europe.
