LocationsThis year’s Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum took place against a backdrop of unprecedented economic and social disruption caused by the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. Normally held in Bangkok, the Forum was organized virtually, with participants connecting on a dedicated internet platform. Interest had been high, with more than 6000 attendants from governments, business, civil society organizations and workers’ groups taking part in 35 sessions and side events.
The subjects discussed covered the implementation of national action plans for business and human rights, the implications for international trade, mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on workers and their communities, tackling gender bias and women’s burden of care in recovery plans, protecting human rights defenders, and assessing policy responses for migrant workers.

The forum was coorganized by the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights (UNWG), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), International Labour Organisation (ILO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
