April 17, 2024

The second commercial of "Villages of Tomorrow" project was shot in Adana with megastar Tarkan

Megastar Tarkan once again stepped in front of the camera for the Villages of Tomorrow project, carried out by Trendyol and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Filming started in Kürkçüler Village, Adana, which is one of the three pilot villages identified in the first phase of the project. Tarkan, who also starred in the launch film of the project in October 2022, said, "It is very nice to witness the transformation of Villages of Tomorrow from a dream to reality and to see the positive impact created over time. I believe that the digital bridges established by Trendyol in villages are an important opportunity for rural development as a brand with high social sensitivity."

Megastar Tarkan starred in the new commercial for the Villages of Tomorrow project, implemented in cooperation with Trendyol, one of Türkiye's and the world's leading e-commerce platforms, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Tarkan visited Kürkçüler Village in Adana, where the first digital center of Villages of Tomorrow was established, for the shootings, and he met with Trendyol Group Corporate Communications Director İrem Poyraz and UNDP Türkiye Resident Representative Louisa Vinton.

The Villages of Tomorrow project, which supports improving agricultural production, preserving cultural values, and increasing employment in villages, brings together Trendyol's technological competencies and UNDP's field experience in rural development. Within the project, digital centers are established in designated villages to provide capacity-building activities targeting a wide range of audiences, including children, youth, women, and disabled individuals, as well as cooperatives and local producers.

Tarkan: Villages of Tomorrow nurtures hopes for the future

Tarkan, who stated that he has closely followed the Villages of Tomorrow project since its inception, said “It’s great pleasure for me to be part of the project and seeing the impact created over time. As a brand with high social sensitivity, I believe that the digital bridges established by Trendyol in villages are an important opportunity for rural development. Trendyol, which grows as a brand in these lands and strives to be beneficial to its country in every field from art to supporting civil society, is nurturing our hopes for the future with this project. I know that with our new TV commercial, this hope will be felt in the heart of all Türkiye."

“Digital tools are powerful allies in development,” said UNDP Türkiye Resident Representative Louisa Vinton. “They can help ensure that people in villages enjoy the same opportunities as those in cities, while creating new markets for the distinctive products – like citrus and peppers in Kürkçüler – that are justly a source of local pride. Our friends at Trendyol open the doors to e-commerce, and with Tarkan on our side, we know our message will be heard.”

"Products will be exported through e-commerce to the world"

İrem Poyraz, Trendyol Group Corporate Communications Director said "We have made significant progress in the first phase of the project, which we initiated with three pilot villages in Adana, Diyarbakır, and İzmir. When we started the project, our biggest desire was to ensure that the unique products crafted in our land find their real value, and for crafts presented as value added products in global markets to reach more people. In the second phase of the project, we aim to introduce products produced in the Villages of Tomorrow to users in markets such as Azerbaijan, Gulf countries, Central and Eastern Europe, where Trendyol is active in e-commerce. We continue to take steps with UNDP to ensure equal digital opportunities and aim to reach 1 million people in 10 villages by the end of 2028 to support local economy and social development. At our first digital center opened in Adana, we are already witnessing these dreams turning into reality together. We are happy to share this testimony through Tarkan's eyes by reflecting the Villages of Tomorrow in our new commercial, as we did in our launch film.”

What has been done in Villages of Tomorrow so far?

The Villages of Tomorrow project, initiated in 2022, aims to strengthen local technological capabilities, increase agricultural production, and promote employment locally. In its initial phase, three pilot villages were designated in Adana, Diyarbakır, and İzmir, and first Digital Center was opened in Kürkçüler, Adana, in December 2023. Digital literacy, e-commerce, and innovative product development workshops for producers, STEM, coding, robotics, and 3D design training for children and youth, and digital agriculture training were provided at the Center. Also, digital agriculture equipment was installed in pilot villages in Adana and İzmir, resulting in a 25% reduction in pesticide use and significant savings in water and fuel consumption. In the next phase of the project, it is aimed to get the local products produced in these villages into markets such as Azerbaijan, Gulf countries, Central and Eastern Europe, where Trendyol is active in e-commerce.
