Joint Effort to Build Rural Women’s Resilience in Yemen

October 13, 2021

In modern progressive societies rural women’s economic empowerment is a key factor for reducing the world poverty. Economic empowerment of rural women is unconditionally linked to improved access to various services, economic resources, and opportunities. However, there are some tangible barriers in Yemen that limit rural women rules on having an effective contribution to their societies, such as poorly developed infrastructure, household difficulties, limited access to transport and energy resources, or even stereotypes in some cases, which hinder rural women’s economic participation.

Despite the difficulties and challenges encountered by rural women Yemen due to the current war as well as conservative societies, there are rural women who do not fear challenges and are willing to take risks to achieve their goals. They embrace existing opportunities, or if necessary, create new ones. They learn and strive to achieve the desired goal to have their own business and income. We follow the examples of rural women who have launched their business initiatives and at the same time improved livelihoods and food security.
