July 28, 2022
UNDP Syria works with partners to improve the agriculture sector to help support vulnerable farmers and rural communities safeguard their livelihoods in the face of multiple challenges and collective hardships. Agriculture is a cornerstone of the economy in Syria, but more than a decade of conflict has severely diminished the resources of Syrians.
To promote sustainable agricultural livelihoods and help boost food security in remote rural areas in 6 governorates across the country. UNDP was able to support 800 farmers, including 420 female farmers. Through quality agricultural inputs and equipment. 600 farmers received 2 pregnant sheep and 400 kg of fodder. 280 farmers received seeds, fertilizers, and irrigation networks.
Still…the needs remain dire… We will continue to support the resilience of the most vulnerable to help rebuild their lives and safeguard livelihoods. Thanks to our Partners IFAD & Japan.
