LocationsDebris Removal in Aleppo: Providing Access and Restoring Livelihoods

Shadi Hajjar, a resident of al-Aqaba neighbourhood in Aleppo. His home and business were affected by the earthquake that struck Syria and Türkiye on 06 February 2023. With support from the Government of Japan, UNDP was able to remove 10,000 m3 from Aleppo city, providing access to roads, neighbourhoods and essential services. Removing the debris inside the old city allowed Shadi to open back his business and the labourers at his shop to resume work and earn an income.
